Not only is this a white chocolate key lime pie… it’s a 5 ingredient key lime pie! Who knew there was such a thing? Well, leave it to my Grandma to know!
One of my favorite treasures is an old wooden recipe box that belonged to my grandmother.
I can sit and reread those recipe cards over and over, filled with delight as I see her handwriting and remember how much I enjoyed cooking with her in the kitchen.

I stumbled across this recipe in her collection and it seemed too easy to be true… Only 5 ingredients and no-bake? I’m in!
The best surprise was the decadence of this dessert. A little goes a long way, but your tastebuds will thank you.
White Chocolate Key Lime Pie
Who knew there is such a thing as 5 ingredient Key Lime Pie?
Ingredients
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 (12 oz) bag vanilla/white chocolate chips
- 1 tbsp sour cream
- 1/2 & 1 tsp lime zest (or more, to taste)
- 1/3 cup bottled key lime juice
- 9” ready-made graham cracker crust or premade mini graham crusts
- Fresh raspberries (optional garnish)
- Lime slices (optional garnish)
- Whipped cream (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Put the cream and chips in a small saucepan and melt down the morsels over low heat. (Make sure to keep heat low, so you don’t scald the cream or burn the chips.) This will take about 5 minutes. I like to use a whisk to make sure mixture is smooth.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients. Whisk ingredients together.
- Pour the mixture into the crust and refrigerate the pie for at least 8 hours, or overnight. If you’re using the mini crusts, this will make 8. The pack is usually 6, so I’ll make the 6 and then make “crustless” for the other two. It’s more like a key lime custard dessert…still so good!
- Garnish the pie with the fresh raspberries, lime slices, or whipped cream.
As you can see, you can make the white chocolate key lime pie in both the full-size version and the mini versions. I like to make mini pies for gifting (you’d be surprised how many people like key lime during the holidays!).

And since the mini pies leave some extra filling, you can make a couple of crustless versions, too. No matter what type you make, your tastebuds will enjoy the tart, sweet and creamy flavors all at the same time!

May have to try this. Not sure if I can find key lime juice in stores. Will check it out. We have given up carbs, so will try your custard version. Was so happy to see that you included that in your instructions.
Thank you for sharing. Happy Monday!
Key lime juice is in the juice aisle next to lemon juice. Easier to find than you might think.
Oh Jill…I’m going to make this tonight! I am diabetic so I will make some adjustments and use sugar free Vanilla/White Chocolate Chips (which I have) and leave out the graham cracker crust. All other ingredients will work fine! I love key lime…so I’m looking forward to this treat! Thanks for sharing your Grandmother’s recipe!
I am back to say that I made this with sugar free white chocolate chips and poured the filling into individual ramekins…no crust. I put a couple of fresh raspberries on top, too. It worked perfectly and was so delicious! Anyone who needs to avoid sugar will love how this recipe worked. I used a combination of “Bake Believe” sugar free white chocolate baking chips (from Walmart) and “Choc Zero” White Chocolate chips (from their website). OMG…so good!.
I should clarify that the “Choc Zero” white chocolate chips are also sugar free.
Jill,
Is this a heavy whipping cream you are using in here or like boxed whipped topping? I make your blueberry lemon no bake pie all the time yum! Would love to make this too.,
Heavy whipping cream…same as lemon blueberry!
Do you think something similar with lemons would work?
Yes!! I’ve taken this concept and made lemon blueberry. Will be posting soon!!
My husband is a diabetic so even though they look delish can’t make them.
This dessert was a hit with my friends. Made the mini pies which was perfect. No need for cutting into a pie. Was wondering if the pies could be frozen so they can sit out a little longer on the serving table before melting
Yes! Great idea and should work fine!
